Our oldest daughter teaches first grade in an underserved school district across the river from Albany. There are 12 languages other than English spoken in her school. This week they were given training for what to do if ICE raids the building. Lord have mercy!
Similar trainings are happening all over NYC. It's terrible that they have to do it, but I'm glad someone is. There actually is a lot you can do in terms of keeping ICE out of schools on legal grounds, and then there are other legal ways to just stall them a ton as well even if they will eventually have legal authority to come in. Anybody who works in a school should be looking into it. We can help a lot of families that way.
